Everything starts in your heart, for as he thinks in his heart – you can’t fool your heart. The toughest opponent you will ever face is always in the mirror because your limitations are self-imposed. You will never go any higher than your perceived value of yourself, nor will you do successful things until you see yourself worthy of success. Therefore, everything you have achieved is to the level of value you have placed on yourself. Where you are today is a collection of the thoughts and self-evaluation you had yesterday; where you go tomorrow is based on the thoughts and values you have today. Zig Ziegler said it this way, “You cannot perform in a manner inconsistent with the way you see yourself.” This makes your own value to yourself become reality. The bad news is there is not much else beyond your thoughts of yourself – the good news is you have most likely severely undervalued yourself.
Experts have valued you at nearly $50 million. Your bone marrow alone is worth more than its weight in gold at over $23 million, and your eyes reading this are valued at a cool six grand each. Before you go selling yourself, please know that it’s illegal and not to mention bad for your health. The only event that diminishes your body’s value severely seems to be death, and even then you are valued at $250,000 for miscellaneous parts. This tremendous value is true for the wealthiest socialite, or the homeless man sleeping on a park bench. The only difference is self-perception; the true value is the same. So if you perform in a manner consistent of a $50 million evaluation of yourself, you are off to a good entry level start because to the level we think – we produce. However, we can’t just stop with this $50 million valuation because it’s only taking into account our human bodies.
Nelson Mandela said, “You are powerful beyond measure,” and you can also add your value beyond measure. You see, no amount of scientists in labs can re-create your decisions, thoughts, feelings, experiences, and more importantly your soul, therefore you don’t have what the insurance industry calls “replacement cost”, thus making you… invaluable, or valuable beyond estimation – priceless. More importantly, you’re invaluable because the invaluable God that created you with great concentration “made all the delicate, inner parts of your body and knit you together in your mother’s womb wonderfully complex, and watched you as you were being formed in utter seclusion as you were woven together in the dark of the womb” (Psalm 139:13-16). For an individual to give you that much attention would be unprecedented, but this is God, who “holds the wind in his fist, who wraps up the oceans in his cloak and created the whole wide world” (Proverbs 30:4). Even currently, He has “so many precious thoughts about you that they cannot be numbered” (Psalm 139:17) and that’s not because He can’t count. You see, He values you so much that “the very hairs on your head all numbered” (Luke 12:7). That much care, focus, and attention to detail screams of value! But he doesn’t stop there. He also “loves us so much that he gave his one and only son, so that you and I would not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). You must try and comprehend God’s priceless estimation of you on the inside before anything will change on the outside. You will begin to perform at a priceless value, as your actions will follow your thoughts.
What say you, do you realize and acknowledge your value?
Insurance Companies don’t value the lives of people with physical disabilities or their parts the same as healthy adults, and Insurance Companies basically rule our lives.
That may be the case with insurance companies, Justin, but fortunately, God says differently. You are priceless, no matter the “disability”!
As in the words of Dr Mark Rutland tonight…. “God did not make a deal for us, no He bankrupt Heaven for us giving is everything He had… ” thankful that through Him I know my worth…..
Great point Deanne!
Great post! Proud of you!
Thank you Leslie.
